Dr. Ruben Fernandes is currently working as a Professor of Genetic Engineering, Animal and Microbial Biotechnology, Genomics, Proteomics and Metabolomics and Computational Analysis of Genomes and Proteomes, among others in the field of molecular biological sciences at the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences at the Porto Polytechnic Institute.
Dr. Ruben Fernandes served as the Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and also as a Director of the master’s degree of Health Biochemistry and of the bachelor’s degree in Medicinal Biotechnology. He has a BSc in Anatomical Pathology (Porto Polytechnic Institute) and a BSc in Biology (Porto University). Dr. Ruben Fernandes also holds a PhD by Faculty of Biology, University of Vigo (Spain) and habilitation in Biomedicine by Faculty of Medicine, Porto University (Portugal).
Dr. Ruben Fernandes research interests include Computational Genomics; Development of diagnostics tools of Diabetes, Cancer and Infection, etc.
