Biography

Dr. Hermis Iatrou is presently working as a Professor in the Department of Chemistry, University of Athens, Athens, Greece. He also works as a Director of the Industrial Laboratory of the Chemistry Department at the University of Athens, Greece since 2015.  He received his Ph.D. from the University of Athens, Greece. He also completed his first post-doctoral fellowship at the “Institute of Festo-cooperative Research Center Juelich, Germany (1993-1995) and second Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA (1997-1998). He was one of the discoverers who synthesized Star Polymers, in which chemically different polymeric chains emanated from the same central point. He has participated as a faculty member of some international and national projects such as STF-NATO GR Project on Hydrogenation with nanoparticles and INTAS. He was also awarded a project to develop nanoparticles, nanogels, and hydrogels to treat pancreatic cancer in 2012. He has guided Masters, Ph.D. degree and post-doctoral fellowship students for their project work. He was an author and co-author of various peer-review publications. He is a member of various International and national organizations. He was participated in international and national conferences and gives presentations. He also serves as a reviewer of some peer review journals.

Research Interests

Prof. Hermis Iatrou’s research interest is in Polymer Synthesis, Polymer Characterization and their Properties, and Solid State Properties of Polymers.
