Dr. Athanasios G. Mamalis is currently the Scientific Director of the “Project Center for Nanotechnology and Anvanced Engineering (PC-NAE)”, a joint intiative of the Greek National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” and the Russian Research Center “Kurchatov Institute”, and Emeritus Professor, Founder of the Laboratory of Manufacturing Technology of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece.
Dr. Athanasios G. Mamalis has obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Victoria University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), England. He has a vast industrial experience as Chief Engineer/Technical Manager in Steelworks (Germany, Greece) for several years and over 40 years cooperation in research and industrial activities worldwide, as well as over 40 years academic university activities in Manufacturing Technology as Full Professor (USA, Greece) and Visiting Professor (England, Germany, Canada). He received numerous Academic Degrees and Awards worldwide: Elected Member of various Academies of Sciences; Honorary Professor (multi); Honorary Doctor (multi); Fellow/Member of many international Scientific Organizations and Journals (Editorial Board); Citations etc.
Dr. Athanasios G. Mamalis has published 27 Books and Monographs, 12 Textbooks, over 520 Papers in refereed Journals and Conference Proceedings and 2 Patents, worldwide. His research interests include the theoretical, experimental and practical aspects of Mechanics, Manufacturing Technology, Ultraprecision Engineering, Nanotechnology, Structural Plasticity / Crashworthiness and Materials Technology from Macro-, Micro- to Nanoscale.
