Biography

Dr. Martin A. Katzman is the Clinic of the S.T.A.R.T. Clinic (Stress, Trauma, Anxiety, Rehabilitation and Treatment) for Mood and Anxiety Disorders and also working as faculty member at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (Laurentian University and Lakehead University). He is appointed in the Department of Psychology at Lakehead University and is a member of the Faculty of Psychology at Adler School of Professional Studies. He was trained at the University of Toronto, first undertaking his B.Sc. in Psychology and Neuroscience, and subsequently his medical training and residency and post-doctoral fellowship.

Dr. Martin A. Katzman is a founding member of the Board of Directors as well as the founding and current Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Anxiety Disorders Association of Canada/Association Canadienne des Troubles Anxieux (ADAC/ACTA). He is the chair of a variety of scientific advisory boards, on the editorial board for a number of journals, and has published numerous papers in the areas of Anxiety, Mood, Pain and Attention Disorders.

Research Interests

Dr. Martin A. Katzman’s research primarily involves examining the psychological manifestations associated with the prefrontal cortex and related associated tracts and organ systems in mood, anxiety and traumatic disorders.  The focus of this research has been directed at Hypoprefrontality, Executive Dysfunction, Intolerance of Uncertainty and Low Hedonic Tone as well as the drivers of Motivation and Energy in relation to the development of a variety of comorbidities and treatment resistance.
