Dr. Korni Swaroop Kumar is Chairperson in the Department of Criminal Justice, The College at Brockport (SUNY). He holds a M.S.W./M.A. degrees and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. He was awarded by the Dr. Nuala McGann Drescher Affirmative Action Leave for Fall – 98; and “President’s Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Endeavors – 1998.” He is an active member of NYSSA since 1993, at which time he joined the Sociology Department, SUNY College at Potsdam as President of New York State Sociological Association, 1999-2000; Treasurer (2003) and Archivist (2003) – New York State Sociological Association. His research focus is in the areas of homicide, media presentation of homicide, correction, deviance, and higher education. He has been a participant in professional conferences at the regional/state-wide, national (ASA, ASC, and ACJS) and international (Tokyo, Austria, Hungary, India) level.
