Dr. M. Mohan Kumar is currently working as Research Scientist in the Department of Immunology and Nano-Medicine at Florida International University, United States of America. He received his postdoctoral (2016-2017) at Loma Linda University, USA. He completed his Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2001 – 2002) from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India and Ph.D., in Pharmacology (2004 – 2007) from Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (a public central University), Varanasi, India.
Dr. M. Mohan Kumar has vast experience in working with pharmaceutical industry for drug discovery and development process at various levels. He was instrumental in setting up complete pharmacokinetic platform (both in vitro and in vivo studies) in a startup company for successfully screening many new chemical entities for a hit to lead identification. He has published many National and International articles. He also presented his research in various National and International conferences. He is an expert reviewer and Editorial Board Member in many journals. He is a member of many professional organizations.
Dr. Mohan Kumar’s research interest includes the role of autophagy in Zika virus pathogenesis in brain cells of fetus and effect of autophagy deficiency during HIV infection in brain cells. Autophagy-related proteins/genes as possible therapeutics including Nano-Medicine and gene therapy approach. His research interest also includes pre-clinical drug development, animal models of disease, pre-clinical pharmacokinetics, safety pharmacology, and toxicology.
